Concrete Contractor • Oak Grove, MO
Oak Grove and the east KC metro have a mix of rural residential properties, newer subdivisions, and commercial strips along I-70. Quality Concrete of Oak Grove by Ford Concrete handles concrete for all of it — driveways, patios, decorative work, repair, replacement, and commercial flatwork.
This is not a national franchise or a lead-distribution service. It's a local concrete operation with the depth of Ford Concrete — an established KC contractor — supporting the work.

Driveways, patios, pool decks, sidewalks, stamped concrete, retaining walls, and repair or replacement. One contractor for the full residential concrete scope — not a specialist who punts on anything outside a narrow service line.
Foundations, sitework, parking lots, warehouse floors, ADA concrete, curbs, and gutters. Commercial concrete work on I-70 corridor properties from small additions to full flatwork operations.
Residential Concrete
Most residential concrete falls into three categories: access surfaces, outdoor living spaces, and replacement of what's settled or failed. We handle all three — standard finishes and decorative options.
A driveway is one of the highest-use surfaces on any property. It carries vehicle loads daily, takes full Missouri freeze-thaw cycles every winter, and needs to handle drainage without collecting standing water at the low points. Base preparation and control joint placement at the pour determine how long it actually holds up — not how it looks when it's finished.
We pour residential driveways in broom finish, exposed aggregate, and colored or stamped finishes where the home's exterior warrants it.
Driveway detailsA poured concrete patio changes how a backyard gets used — from a grass strip that stays muddy after rain to a clean surface that handles outdoor furniture, grills, and foot traffic without maintenance. Pool decks need slip resistance, drainage away from the water, and surfaces that don't get uncomfortably hot in direct sun. Both are functional projects first.
We handle patios, pool decks, and outdoor entertaining areas in standard finishes and decorative options including stamped patterns and integral color.
Concrete that's been in place for twenty or thirty years often reaches a point where patching doesn't solve the problem — the base has shifted, sections have settled unevenly, or freeze-thaw cycling has opened cracks wide enough that water is getting beneath the slab and accelerating the deterioration every winter.
Replacement means removing what's there, correcting the base, and starting fresh with properly placed control joints and appropriate thickness for the traffic it'll carry.
Repair vs. replacementCommercial Concrete
I-70 corridor properties deal with heavier loads, higher traffic volumes, and different specifications than residential work. We handle the full commercial scope.

Local Conditions
Oak Grove sits on I-70 about 25 miles east of downtown Kansas City. The surrounding corridor — Grain Valley, Blue Springs, Independence, and out to Odessa — is a mix of older rural properties, newer residential subdivisions on former farmland, and commercial properties along the highway. Concrete work here has specific requirements that matter.
Soil east of KC runs heavy with clay. Clay-rich soil expands when wet and contracts when dry — a cycle that repeats through every spring and fall, and accelerates during wet winters. Concrete installed on clay soil without adequate base preparation settles, heaves, and cracks faster than it should. Control joints have to be placed correctly, not wherever they're easy to cut.
East KC soil expands and contracts with moisture. Base prep — the gravel subbase beneath the slab — is what keeps concrete flat. It's not optional.
Temperatures cross 32 degrees repeatedly through December and January. Freeze-thaw expands any water that's gotten into a crack. Correctly placed control joints prevent random cracking by giving the slab somewhere to move.
Rock salt and calcium chloride accelerate surface spalling on concrete that wasn't mixed for it. Driveways benefit from an air-entrained mix that handles deicer exposure better than standard residential mixes.
Properties on the edge of Oak Grove and Odessa often have drainage patterns that don't follow the typical suburban layout. Driveways and approach pads have to shed water away from structures, not collect it.
Repair & Replacement
Repair is the right call when the underlying slab is structurally intact. Surface spalling — the pitting and flaking that shows on older concrete — can often be resurfaced. Hairline cracks that haven't moved or widened are usually cosmetic. If the slab is flat, the joints are holding, and the drainage is still working, repair may be all it needs.
Replacement is typically the right call when slabs have settled — when one section sits lower than the one next to it. Same when heaving from freeze-thaw or tree roots has pushed sections up, when cracks are wide enough to see the base beneath, or when water is actively getting under the slab and accelerating the problem. Patching settled or heaved concrete treats the symptom, not the cause.
We'll look at your concrete and give you a straight answer. We don't push replacement when repair is right, and we don't patch concrete that should come out.
